STM, in affiliation with HydroTech Environmental, was subcontracted to work with ExterNetwork and perform an engineering support and environmental site assessment – an initial investigation of seven (7) Staten Island Railroad Train Stations to assess its potential environmental contamination, hydrogeological conditions, the existing drainage system and identify its deficiencies.

The site is situated on an approximately 20 -acre area bounded by the East River to the north, commercial facilities including, major distribution centers to the east, and Vallo Transportation to the west. The project site was conceived as an urban sustainable water strategy designed to protect the entire site and parts of the surrounding areas from frequent flooding due to storm surge, high tide, and heavy rainfall.
